Text: Rev. 3:21 2 Timo 3:14-17; Prov. 1:1-5
Revelation 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
WHO IS AN OVERCOMER?
An Overcomer is somebody who faces challenges, endures, and gains control and mastery over them. All champions of faith we read about in the Bible; from Abraham to Joseph, to Moses, to Jesus and the Apostles, overcame because they were confronted with challenges but with patience and faith, they obtained promises. Therefore, it is time to learn from the overcomers.

There is no overcomer who does not have a painful story to tell. The secret of every great man; overcomers, lies in the story. In their story lies wisdom, knowledge, and lessons.
Lessons From The Overcomer
1. Ignorance is not a Demon:
Everybody on earth starts life in ignorance by default, including Jesus. It was the spirit of God that led Jesus into the wilderness, but it wasn’t the spirit of God that took him to the temple to learn and ask questions to Teachers of the Law. So, Jesus was one of the people who were born ignorant but able to overcome it through his desire for knowledge. Casting out a demon is never a solution to ignorance. Though a demon can cause a man to remain perpetually ignorant, it may require deliverance to have total freedom from ignorance. It requires light and knowledge because the real deliverance starts from your awareness of your current status. The book of 2 Timo 2:15; Prov. 1: 20 -33. What to do to overcome ignorance:
- Contempt for knowledge and high spiritual illumination.
- Recognize that you may have knowledge in one area of your life and be in deep ignorance in other areas. Seek knowledge from all areas of your life. Evil spirits are opportunists who always want to.
2. Define Your Desires and Expectations:
You Cannot Have a Consistent Result Until Your Desires and Expectations Are Defined: Luke 18:38-41. Mark. 11:24 – Until your desires are defined, you may not achieve anything in life. When you pray, what exactly are you praying for? What exactly are you asking God? Success? You must be specific about your desires for life. If you are not specific, your expectations might not be met.
- Areas to measure success:
- Your spiritual growth.
- Your mental transformation.
- Purpose and ambition.
- Your health and wellness.
- Your financial well-being.
- The quality of relationships.
- Your fulfillment and meaning.
3. Perspective Matters:
People are not really affected by what happened to them but by the definitions and meanings they attach to them: A man got to a village where no man wears shoes, and he was sorrowful, while another man gets to the same village and becomes happy because he sees a great business opportunity there.

4. Endurance and Discipline:
You need encouragement and motivation to start anything in life, but it takes Endurance and Discipline to complete it: If you are wondering why the enthusiasm you had at the beginning of what you are doing now just disappeared midway, it is because it takes endurance and discipline to complete everything in life. Another thing you need to know is that you must know how to say no to many good things in life if you desire great things in life.
5. Think Before Acting
Do not be hasty with the word and with commitment; think, and pray before taking destiny-defined decisions: This lesson could be learned from Jesus. They brought the adulterous woman to Jesus with a report that she was taken from the very act. The question they asked Jesus was, “What can you say about this act?” What did Jesus do? He bent down, using his hand to write on the ground; taking his time to think and pray to know what to say. No wonder his reply put all of them dumbfounded. Wherever people come to you and want to rush you into taking action, beware and be careful; there are elements of deception in it. Patience is a virtue that forces deception to reveal itself.
6. Critics Confirm Progress
Critics and Naysayers confirm that you are making notable and profound progress; and can be used by God to caution you from falling and destruction: So when critics rise against you, be calm to understand from where and the purpose why it is coming.
7. Beware of Certain People
Be aware of these 3 people in life and pray for wisdom to deal with them: They are; 1 Wicked People 2. Selfish people 3. Ignorant and Naive people. These mentioned above people can be great weapons in the hand of the Devil to attack you unless you sustain the wisdom to deal with them. The world is full of wicked people. They are in your house, your neighborhood, at your workplace, and everywhere.
8. Define What’s Worth Dying For:
Define the most important thing in your life, not everything worth dying for: You must and compulsory you know things that are worth dying for as a believer among which are;
- Your relationship with Jesus is worth dying for Mark 8:35-36.
- Your family, either Biological or spiritual family.
- Your Assignment and Purpose on Earth. John 4:34
9. Respect Resilience
Do not respect only the successful people alone but respect those who failed and still remain standing; for their scars and pain you can learn from.
Conclusion
By embracing these lessons from Overcomers, we can navigate life’s challenges with faith, patience, and wisdom.
